Coachella Coverage for BuzzBands.la Through the Years

Here’s all the Coachella coverage I’ve done for Buzz Bands throughout the years. It’s an honor, a privilege, and an education to work for Master Bronson every fest. In six years I’ve covered 70 bands for him. What a gig!

Coachella 2015 Overview

Overall, this wasn’t my favorite edition of Coachella. That was my experience. Someone else could have gone to different sets with a different mindset and had the best year in a decade. Hell, someone else could have gone to the same sets. It’s all subjective, right?

Coachella 2015 Day 3 Field Report 04-12-15

Coachella 2015 Day 3 Field Report 04-12-15

Day three of Coachella 2015 was short and mellow for me. My tradition is to leave the fest early, usually as soon as I’ve had my fill, but the lineup on Sunday was so light in the evening for me that I bailed even before the sun even went down.

Coachella 2015 Day 2 Field Report 04-11-15

Coachella 2015 Day 2 Field Report 04-11-15

After a mediocre day on Friday, day two of this year’s fest gave me that “festival high” (unassisted by substance, I assure you) that I come to Coachella to seek.

Coachella 2015 Day 1 Field Report 04-10-15

Coachella 2015 Day 1 Field Report 04-10-15

Here we go! Day one of Coachella 2015 was fairly mediocre. That’s okay. They can’t all be mindblowing memory factories! The worst part is I managed to get the Coachella Sinus Infection before gates had even opened. Maybe the Coachella gods are telling me my time at this festival is waning.

Coachella 2015 is upon us…

Coachella 2015 is upon us…

After ten years of Coachella, this one really might actually be my last one for real guys. A wife, a mortgage, and now a human being with my genetic material due to arrive in July has made it harder to accommodate my favorite indulgence. Who knows? Every year feels like the last, but this one even more so.

Fakers @ The Satellite 12-29-14

Fakers @ The Satellite 12-29-14

Just a few quick notes jotted-down on the first-ever show from Fakers, a new band featuring Travis Shettel (the lead guy of Piebald), both Siara Bros (The Henry Clay People), Ben Heywood (the lead guy of local darlings, Summer Darling) and Cameron Dmytryk (Vanaprasta guitarist).

  • LOUD. (seriously)
  • Lot of talent in there. Five guys, all capable of fronting their own band. Each one sang lead on at least one song, three of them on at least two. That was fun.
  • Still very primordial. The sum total of experience from the five members was reflected in the music, which varied greatly in rock genre. (In a good way.)
  • LOUD. (no, really)

Hope they stick around.

Weezer @ The Belasco Theatre 11-07-14

Weezer @ The Belasco Theatre 11-07-14

Last month I took-up the sword and shield to cover Weezer, my once and future favorite band, for Buzz Bands. Pretty happy with the writeup (even if the button is a little cute), but I may have overcompensated for bias; I had a great time. Thanks as always to Lord Master Bronson for having me as his bannerman.

The Henry Clay People @ Replacements Tribute Night at The Satellite 07-19-14

Our old friends The Henry Clay People have played many last shows. When they amicably split, I privately guessed Joey Siara would return home from Harvard the summer of ’14, and wouldn’t be able to resist an HCP show by November ’14. Seems I was three months too sure of his will.

Guided by Voices @ The Fonda 06-13-14 (In the style of The World Famous Busblog)

Took my first Uber to this show. I was hoping the driver would maybe be a pretty girl I could fake-fall in love with for fifteen minutes. Or maybe a dork like me. Or a smart guy like busblog.

Actually I was hoping my driver would be busblog.
